Kingdom Hearts 3D Comes Next Year!
Kingdom Hearts 3D Comes Next Year!
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is the seventh installment of the Kingdom Hearts series that will be released exclusively for Nintendo’s latest hand-held console, the Nintendo 3DS. Square Enix will set the game loose on March 2012 in Japan, and sometime in 2012 for the international edition. Hence, the title, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will produce 3D graphics equal to PS2 games graphics. 3D stands for Dream Drop Distance and also three dimension. The series are developed by the same team that developed Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep for PSP. Generally, the franchise is developed by Square Enix in collaboration with Disney.
As you already know, Kingdom Hearts series’ genre is Action Role-Playing Game, meaning, the games feature Role-Playing element along with action. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance has 2 protagonists, Riku and Sora. The game is set after the events in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, and will contain hints about the next game, Kingdom Hearts 3. The story tells about friendship, bond, and trust. Subject to the eventual appearance of the main villain of the game, Master Xehanort, Riku and Sora have to be a qualified Keyblade Masters to beat him. In order to make them one, King Mickey ordered both of them to take the Mark of Mastery Exam.
In Jump Festa 2012 that was held from December 17th through December 18th 2011, a trailer of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance trailer were shown. The 8-minute trailer reveals the mechanic of the game, and the brand new features introduced in this game. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance still utilizes the “Command Deck” system that was first used in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. There also new systems like the “free flow” system that allows player to take advantage of the environment for attacking and movement and “Drop Gauge” that enables auto character-switching when the gauge is empty.
The feature that I like the most from this game is the Dream Eaters collecting. Dream Eaters are monsters in the game that can be collected and will give Sora and Riku new abilities, skills, and even co-op actions. There are 2 kinds of Dream Eaters, Nightmares and Spirits. Spirits are monsters that eat nightmares and produce good dreams. They have cheerful and bright body color with black and yellow colored eyes. The Nightmares are monsters that plant nightmares and eat good dreams. Their bodies are dark-colored and have dark red eyes. Dream Eaters resemble the shape of animals, like Sora’s panda-shaped Dream Eater (Kuma Panda) and Riku’s bat-shaped Dream Eater (Bat Bat). The game is playable with Nintendo 3DS Expansion Slide Pad and compatible with the augmented reality technology. It means that you can go catch a Dream Eater out of the game in the real world! Games these days are just too amazing!
Other than new systems, there are new characters and planets too. Like Neku Sakuraba from The World Ends with You, a Nintendo 3DS game. The new worlds are based on Disney characters world, like Pinocchio, Tron: Legacy, Three Musketeers, et cetera. Also, a new world called “Keyblade Graveyard” is introduced in the trailer and playable demo.
I believe that this game won’t disappoint the fans since the latest Kingdom Hearts game in 3DS, Kingdom Hearts Re:coded proved to be a success. What do you think about Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance?
